the
FORMAT
command
for
the
following purposes.
o
Analyzing the disk for defective spots and making
sure
these
areas
are
not
used
for
storing
information.
o
Wiping out all files on a disk that you no longer
need to use.
CAUTION
Formatting a disk destroys any data that exists on the
disk.
