Problems with the Parking
Assist System
If a temporary condition exists that
prevents the system from turning
on automatically, the PARKING
ASSIST OFF (parking assist off) or
PARKING ASSIST BLOCKED SEE
OWNERS MANUAL (parking
assist blocked see owners manual)
message will appear in the Driver
Information Center when you shift
to R (Reverse).
This message may appear under
the following conditions:
• The system is disabled
manually.
• The system sensors or the rear
bumper are damaged.
• A bicycle or other object is
attached to the rear of the
vehicle.
• An object is hanging out of the
tailgate.

• A trailer hitch or a trailer hitch
with a trailer is attached to the
vehicle.
• A tow bar is attached to the
vehicle.
• The system receives vibrations
from a large nearby vehicle or
from heavy equipment such as
a jackhammer.
The message will remain in the
Driver Information Center display
until conditions are back to
normal.
If the message does not turn off
when conditions are back to
normal, the vehicle must be driven
forward at a minimum speed of
40 km/h.
Otherwise, if the message is still
displayed, there may be a problem
with the system. The sensors may
need to be cleaned.
If, after cleaning the rear bumper
and sensors and driving forward at
a minimum speed of 40 km/h, the
message still appears, see your
dealer for service.
