Service and Maintenance
1. Park on a level surface, set the
parking brake firmly and shift
the automatic transmission
into P (Park).
See "Parking Brake" in Section
3 for information on how to
properly set and release the
parking brake.
2. Make sure the engine is off.
3. Turn the ignition to ON but
do not start the engine.

4. Without applying the regular
brake pedal, try to move the
gear shift lever out of P (Park)
using a normal amount of
effort.
The gear shift lever should
move out of P (Park) only
when the regular brake is fully
pressed. If you are able to
move the gear shift lever out of
P (Park), see your dealer for
service.
■ IGNITION
TRANSMISSION LOCK
CHECK
Park the vehicle on a level surface
and apply the parking brake.
See "Parking Brake" in Section 3 for
information on how to properly
set and release the parking brake.
Try to turn the ignition switch to
LOCK in each shift lever position.
• The ignition should turn to
LOCK only when the gear shift
lever is in P (Park).
• You should only able to remove
the key when the ignition is in
LOCK.
See your dealer for service, if
necessary.
