4.10.1 IGMP Snooping

When IGMP Snooping (see figure 4-57) is enabled globally, all IGMP packets are forwarded to the CPU. The CPU analyzes the
incoming packets and determines which ports want to join which Multicast groups, which ports have Multicast routers generating
IGMP queries, which routing protocols are forwarding packets and Multicast traffic. Ports requesting to join a specific Multicast
group issue an IGMP report, specifying that Multicast group is accepting members. This results in the creation of the Multicast
filtering database.

IGMP Global
IGMP Snooping Status Indicates if IGMP Snooping is enabled or Disabled on the device.
VLAN IGMP Settings
VLAN ID
A message sent by a host to the querier to indicate that the host wants to be or is a
member of a given group indicated in the report message.
A message sent by a host to the querier to indicate that the host has quit to be a
member of a specific multicast group.
