• Use only S-AIT cartridges.
• If a cartridge has been used for a long time or very frequently, replace it with
a new cartridge.
• Verify that the cartridge is not damaged. For details about cartridges, see
Chapter 6 "Using the Media" (page 67).
• Try to clean up a head of drives. For procedures, see Chapter 4 "DRV
CLEANING" (page 50).
The cartridges cannot be removed.
• Perform the "EXPORT MEDIUM" (page 45) or "MAGAZINE XCHG"
(page 47) operation in Chapter 4.
• If you cannot still take out the cartridges, follow the instruction below.
- When you remove the cartridges from a fixed slot:
Refer to "When you remove the cartridges by hand."
- When you remove the cartridges from a drive:
Perform the "DRV EJECT" (page 56) in Chapter 4. Then perform the
"EXPORT MEDIUM" operation. If you cannot still take out cartridges,

- When you remove the cartridges by hand
Execute the "MAGAZINE XCHG" (page 47) operation to open the front
door. Power off the library in the state. Remove the magazine and then take
out the cartridges by hand from the cartridge dock of the drive or fixed slots.
After removing the cartridges, put back the magazine and then close the
front door. Power on the library.
When you took out the cartridges by hand, always perform the "OPERATION"
- "CTG INVENTORY" command in USER mode. Then initialize the library
with application software.
The information of media on the library is not updated, resulting in a failure of
the library.
And when a software program manages the information of media and store
element addresses, the information in some applications may not be consistent
with that in the library, resulting in improper operation of the system.
Caution
When you remove a magazine, never put your hand inside the dock while the
library is powered on. If you put your hand at the back of magazines, it may
cause an injury with your hand caught in the dock.
