•
Always install DIMMs in channels 1 and 2 for each installed processor.
•
Do not install DIMMs in channel 3 for any processor.
•
DIMMs installed on channel 1 and channel 2 of an installed processor must be identical.
•
In multi-processor configurations, each processor must have a valid Mirrored Memory configuration.
•
In multi-processor configurations, each processor may have a different valid Mirrored Memory
configuration.

Installing a DIMM

Power down the server (on page 20).

Remove all power:

Disconnect each power cord from the power source.

Disconnect each power cord from the server.

Do one of the following:

Extend the server from the rack (on page 20).

Remove the server from the rack (on page 22).
o
Remove the access panel (on page 24).

Remove the air baffle (on page 29).
5.
Open the DIMM slot latches.
6.
Install the DIMM.

Install the air baffle (on page 30).

Install the access panel (on page 26).

Do one of the following:

Slide the server into the rack.

Install the server into the rack
o
Power up the server (on page 20).

After installing the DIMMs, use BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) in the UEFI System Utilities
System Utilities" on page 133) to configure the memory protection mode.
