Configuring settings for the local network
Preferred DNS Server:
Enter the IP address for the preferred DNS server. DNS (Domain Name System) allows
you to assign public IP addresses to symbolic names. The DNS server is required to con-
vert the DNS name into the IP address when a connection is being established to a
server.
You can specify the IP address for your router/gateway here. This forwards address
requests from the phone to its DNS server.
There is no default setting for a DNS server.
Alternate DNS Server:
Enter the IP address for the alternate DNS server that should be used in situations
where the preferred DNS server cannot be reached.
