1. Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to
the server.
2. Prepare your server. See "Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet" on page 69.
3. Remove the server cover. See "Removing the server cover" on page 69.
4. Remove the riser card assembly 1. See "Replacing the riser card" on page 85.
5. Locate the TSM Premium connector on the system board and then lift the installed TSM Premium
module straight up.

6. If you are instructed to return the old TSM Premium module, follow all packaging instructions and use
any packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Installing or removing the ThinkServer Trusted Platform Module

The ThinkServer Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a security chip designed by the Trusted Computing
Group (TCG) to provide a hardware method of data encryption. It stores passwords, encryption keys,
and digital certificates to help provide security solutions and protect the computer. You can purchase a
TPM option from Lenovo.
