To scrub a vdisk
1.
In the Configuration View panel, right-click a vdisk and select Tools > Media Scrub Vdisk.
2.
Click Start Media Scrub Utility. A message confirms that the scrub has started.
3.
Click OK. The panel shows the scrub's progress.
To abort a vdisk scrub
In the Configuration View panel, right-click a vdisk and select Tools > Media Scrub Vdisk.

Click Abort Media Scrub Utility. A message confirms that the scrub has been aborted.

Click OK.

Removing a vdisk from quarantine

A vdisk having a fault-tolerant RAID level becomes quarantined if at least one of its disks is missing after
the storage system is powered up. Quarantine does not occur for NRAID or RAID-0 vdisks; if known-failed
disks are missing; or if disks are missing after failover or recovery.
Quarantine isolates the vdisk from host access, and prevents the system from making the vdisk critical and
starting reconstruction. Examples of when quarantine might occur are:
The system is powered up and at least one disk is slow to spin up. A vdisk requiring any of these disks
will be quarantined, then automatically dequarantined when all disks are ready.
The system is powered up but one drive enclosure is not powered up. If a vdisk has disks in the missing
enclosure, the vdisk becomes quarantined. When the drive enclosure is powered up, the vdisk is
automatically dequarantined.
Certain transient back-end conditions occur that require a short time to stabilize before vdisks can be
used.
Quarantine status is determined by the number of missing disks:
Quarantined offline (QTOF): The vdisk is offline and quarantined because multiple disks are missing
and user data is incomplete.
Quarantined critical (QTCR): The vdisk is offline and quarantined because at least one disk is missing;
however, the vdisk could be accessed. For instance, one disk is missing from a mirror or RAID-5.
Quarantined with down disks (QTDN): The vdisk is offline and quarantined because at least one disk
is missing; however, the vdisk could be accessed and would be fault tolerant. For instance, one disk is
missing from a RAID-6.
A quarantined vdisk's disks are write-locked and the vdisk is not available to hosts until the vdisk is
dequarantined. A vdisk can remain quarantined indefinitely without risk of data loss.
NOTE:
The only tasks allowed for a quarantined vdisk are Dequarantine Vdisk and Delete Vdisk. If you
delete a quarantined vdisk and its missing disks are later found, the vdisk reappears as quarantined or
offline and you must delete it again (to clear those disks).
A vdisk is dequarantined when it is brought back online, which can occur in three ways:
The missing disks are found and the vdisk is automatically dequarantined.
A vdisk with QTCR or QTDN status is automatically dequarantined after one minute. The missing disks
are failed and the vdisk status changes to critical or degraded.
Dequarantine Vdisk is used to manually dequarantine the vdisk. If the missing disks are later found,
they are marked as leftovers.
