6-18 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Remove the trunk. (
Disconnect the generator coupler 1.
Connect the multi circuit tester with the peak volt adaptor as
follows.
Brown (- Probe) – White (+ Probe)
Measure the pickup coil peak voltage in the same manner as on
the CDI unit coupler.

Tester knob indication: Voltage (
Pickup coil peak voltage: More than 5.0 V
If the peak voltage on the generator coupler is within specifica-
tion, but on the CDI unit coupler is not within specification, re-
place the wire harness with a new one. If both peak voltages are
out of specification, replace the pickup coil with a new one.
PICKUP COIL RESISTANCE
Remove the trunk. (
Disconnect the generator coupler 1.
Measure the resistance between the lead wires using the multi
circuit tester. If the resistance is not within the specified value,
the pickup coil must be replaced.

Tester knob indication: Resistance (Ω Ω Ω Ω Ω )
Pickup coil resistance: 120 – 250 Ω Ω Ω Ω Ω (White – Brown)
