(k) Timing Belt Replacement Warning
Light (diesel engine)
This light will come on every time when
the trip amount gets 150000 km in kilome-
ter reading or 90000 miles in mile reading
to indicate that the timing belt should be
replaced immediately. When it comes on,
have the belt replaced and the warning
light reset by your Toyota dealer.
NOTICE
Continued driving without having the
belt replaced will result in a broken
belt and engine damage.
(l) Fuel System Warning Light (diesel
engine)
The light has two modes:
When the light flashes, it warns that the
amount of accumulated water in the fuel
filter has reached the specified level.
In this case, drain the water immediately.
(See page 234 for instructions for how to
drain the water.)

When the light comes on, it warns that
there may be a problem with the fuel
system.
In this case, have your vehicle checked
and the warning light reset by your Toyota
dealer as soon as possible.
NOTICE
Never drive the vehicle with the warn-
ing light flashing. Continued driving
with water accumulated in the fuel
filter will damage the fuel injection
pump.
(m) Unengaged "Park" Warning Light
(four−wheel drive models with auto-
matic transmission)
This light warns that the transmission
"Park" mechanism is not engaged. If the
front drive control lever is in the "N" posi-
tion while the selector lever is in the "P"
position, the transmission will disengage
and the wheels will not lock.
CAUTION
To restore the park function, shift the
front drive control lever out of "N",
or the vehicle can move.
(n) Automatic Transmission Fluid Tem-
perature Warning Light (four−wheel
drive models with automatic trans-
mission)
This light warns that the automatic trans-
mission fluid temperature is too high.
If this light comes on while you are driv-
ing, slow down and pull off the road. Stop
the vehicle at a safe place and put the
selector lever in "P". With the engine id-
ling, wait until the light goes off. If the
light goes off, you may start the vehicle
again. If the light does not go off, call a
Toyota dealer or qualified repair shop for
assistance.
NOTICE
Continued driving with the warning
light on may damage the automatic
transmission.
(o) Key Reminder Buzzer
This buzzer acts as a reminder to remove
the key when you open the driver's door
with the ignition key in the "ACC" or
"LOCK" position.
