The blind hem may be used to sew a blind hem on
either knit or woven fabrics. Elna invented the stretch
blind hem in 1952.

Finish the raw hem edge with a zigzag or 3-step zig-
zag before sewing the blind hem. Fold up the hem
allowance and press. Fold under the hem toward
right side of garment. Leave a 6.5-10 mm
(1/4" to 3/8") extension at the right.
Lower the presser foot. Loosen the shank thumb-
screw and insert blind hem foot between thumb-
screw and shank. Tighten thumbscrew and raise
presser foot.
Position the fabric so the folded edge is to the left
side of the guide. Lower the presser foot. Make sure
only the widest zigzag catches one or two fibers of
the fold.
