TROUBLESHOOTING

Any of the following fail to light: headlight,
high beam indicator light or meter light.
Check:
1. main fuse
2. battery
3. lighting coil resistance.
4. main switch
5. dimmer switch
6. headlight relay
7. wiring connections
(of the entire lighting system)
NOTE:
8Before troubleshooting, remove the follow-
ing part(s):
1. Seat/Trunk
2. Battery cover
3. Head light cover
4. Leg shield 1
8Troubleshoot with the following special
tool(s).
Pocket tester
90890-03132 (YU-03112-C)

1. Main fuse
8Check the fuses for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE FUSES" in
chapter 3.
8Is the fuse OK?
YES
Replace the fuse.

8 Check the condition of the battery.
Refer to "CHECKING AND CHARGING
THE BATTERY" in chapter 3.
Minimum open-circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20°C

YES
8Clean the battery termi-

3. Lighting coil resistance
8 Disconnect the lighting coil coupler from
the wire harness.
8 Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the
lighting coil terminal as shown.
Positive tester probe
Negative tester probe
8 Measure the lighting coil resistance.
Lighting coil resistance
0.256 ~ 0.384Ω Ω Ω Ω Ω at 20°C
(between yellow/red and ground)
8 Is the lighting coil OK?
YES
Replace the lighting coil.
