Removing Misfed Paper

When a paper misfeed occurs, an er-
ror message appears on the panel dis-
play. The procedure you should
follow to remove the misfed paper
depends on the location of the mis-
feed, which is indicated on the panel
display.
R CAUTION:
• When removing misfed paper,
do not touch the fusing section
because it becomes very hot.

Important
❒ More than one misfed area might
be indicated. In this case, check ev-
ery applicable area. See the follow-
ing illustration.
The symbols "E", "R" and "Z" in
the illustration above are not used
in the error message. They are sub-
stituted as follows:
E ⇒ mailbox
R ⇒ finisher
Z ⇒ duplex unit
❒ If paper continues to misfeed,
check the following points.
• Confirm that the setting of the
paper size dial matches the size
and feed direction of the paper
loaded in the paper tray.

• Confirm that the paper tray
guides are set in place.
• Confirm that the top of the stack
is not higher than the limit mark
indicated on the tray guide.
❒ If a paper misfeed still occurs, con-
tact your sales or service represen-
tative.
❒ Do not leave any torn paper scraps
within the printer.

Remove the misfed paper from
inside of lower right cover 1.

❒ If no misfed paper can be seen
inside the cover, slide out the
paper tray and check the loaded
paper, and then return the tray.
