Possible Cause
Is the power on?

tor stay on?

tion page?
Is the interface cable be-
tween the printer and the
computer connected se-
curely?
Are you using a correct in-
terface cable?
Did you connect the inter-
face cable after turning on
the power switch?
Solutions
If not, confirm that the power cord is securely plugged into the
power outlet and the printer.
Turn on the printer power.

If not, press {On Line} to make it light up.
If so, check the error message on the panel display and take the re-
quired action. ⇒ P.41 "Error & Status Messages on the Operation Panel"
Load paper into the paper tray. ⇒ P.31 "Loading Paper and Other Media"
Set the selected paper size in any of the input trays.
Adjust the paper size dial to match the size and feed direction of
the paper in the paper tray.
Set the selected paper type in any of the input trays.
Adjust the paper type with the operation panel.
If you cannot print a configuration page, it probably indicates
printer malfunction. You should contact your sales or service rep-
resentative.
If you can print a configuration page but cannot get the printer to
print when you issue a print command from the computer, it prob-
ably means there is a problem with the computer.
Also keep it in mind that large, complex data might take long time
for printer process.
Connect the interface cable correctly. If there are any connectors or
screws, confirm they are fastened securely.

The type of interface cable you should use depends on the com-
puter. Be sure to use the correct one. ⇒ P.116 "Specifications"
If the cable is damaged or worn, replace it with a new one.
Connect the interface cable before turning on the power switch.
