Resetting Acticare TSE
Some faults may be resolved by restoring
factory defaults and resetting Acticare TSE.
1. Restore factory defaults.

Remove one battery. After five seconds,
replace the battery.
If the batteries are correctly installed the

inserted with the positive terminals correct as
illustrated; the symbols inside the battery case
indicate correct placement. The positive end
of the battery is the one with the pip and
marked with a "+".

Understanding Output Limitations
When programming new waveform shapes in
advanced (ADV) mode, it is important to
understand the effect of safety limitations.
The device has internal hardware that limits
the output charge to 25µC per pulse under
normal operation and the average output
current to 20mA (40mA in IC mode) in
accordance with safety limits in the standard
EN 60601-2-10 "Particular Requirements for
the Safety of Nerve and Muscle Stimulators".
These limits mean that some waveforms may
produce an output that is of a lower voltage
than expected. For instance, it is only
possible to produce 500kHz pulsed RF in short
bursts (20µS or less at 1kHz) without droop in
the output voltage. If you try to program a
longer burst time, the result will be that the
output waveform tails off throughout the
burst back to the safe continuous limit as
illustrated:

A similar effect may be observed when using
long, high voltage pulses in TENS modes,
particularly where the skin resistance is low or
the electrodes are close together.
Most issues can be resolved by changing the
frequency, pulse width or burst time.
