Using The Motherboard
Driver & Other Software
Many cards will require the installation of driver or
other software. Follow the software installation in-
structions that come with the card. It is a good idea
to make sure that you have the most recent driver for
the card. In some cases, there may be an updated
driver on the company's web site. If you have Inter-
net access, it is a good idea to check for an updated
driver before installing the card.

Installing A Modem Riser Card

The special Modem Riser slot is for a separately pur-
chased Modem Riser telephony card. The card pro-
vides a V.90 modem and other telephony features
and installs in the same way as a conventional ex-
pansion card although the slot is smaller. The card
has two external RJ-11 phone jacks on it, one for
Line-in and the other to connect out to a telephone
set. You should receive driver software for the card.
The driver software may only support a limited
number of Operating Systems so check that the driv-
er supports your OS before you buy the card. Follow
the instructions that come with the card to install it.
