SEAT TRACK POSITION
SENSOR (STPS)
OPERATION
The Seat Track Position Sensors (STPSs) are beneath
the seat cushion on the inside seat rail of the front
driver and passenger seat. There is one sensor for
each seat.
The STPS is a non-contacting magnetic proximity
sensing device sensor with a simple electronic circuit,
resulting in the ability of producing two separate and
distinct logic level signals.
The STPS output signal is altered by the proximity of a
separate ferro-magnetic shunt in the seat track. The
logic signal is produced as the result of the proximity
device. The logic signal output is one of two distinct
logic levels:
1. Active - No shunt present
2. Deactivated – Shunt present.
