Water softener unit (optional)

Filling the salt reservoir

Only use special coarse grained
reactivation salt with granules of
approx. 1-4 mm. Do not use other salts
such as cooking salt, agricultural grade
or gritting salt. These may contain
insoluble additives which can impair
the functioning of the water softener. If
in doubt consult the Miele Professional
Department.
The salt reservoir holds approx. 2 kg of
salt.
,
Inadvertently filling the salt
reservoir with cleaning agent always
leads to serious damage to the wa-
ter softener. Make sure you have
picked up the correct packet of
reactivation salt before filling the salt
reservoir!
^ Remove the bottom basket from the
machine.
^ Unscrew the salt reservoir cap.
Before filling the salt reservoir with
salt for the first time fill it with approx.
2 litres of water.
,
If there is still water in the tank,
e.g. if you are refilling the salt
reservoir, you will need to run the
"Drain" programme beforehand.
18
^ Place the funnel provided over the
salt reservoir and carefully fill with
reactivation salt until it is full.
As it is filled, displaced water will run out.
^ Remove the funnel and wipe any
residual salt off the screw threads on
the socket.
^ Screw the cap back on firmly.
^ Close the machine door and press
one of the programme buttons.
The rinsing process will begin which
will dilute and rinse out any residual
salt. The time until the end of the rinsing
process will appear in the display.
After the rinsing process has begun,
there may be a pause for a few
minutes while the water softener is
regenerated.
If the boiler and tank are full and the
operating temperature has been
reached, the rinsing time of the
programme selected will be shown in
minutes. The machine is now ready for
operation.
