Signification
There is no MD.
You are trying to copy a non-audio disc
like a CD-ROM, Video CD, or DVD.
You are trying to edit or record on a
playback-only MD.
The UTOC fails to be read.
Digital copy of the 2nd generation is
prohibited.
Possible Cause
The power cord is not connected to an
AC outlet.
The built-in microprocessor has
malfunctioned due to external electrical
interference.
• Connections are incorrect or loose.
• A pair of headphones is connected.
• The path between the remote control
and the remote sensor on the unit is
blocked.
• The batteries are exhausted.
• You are using the remote control too
far from the unit.
• Antennas are disconnected.
• The AM loop antenna is too close to
the unit.
• The FM antenna is not properly
extended and positioned.
• The AC power cord is not plugged in.
• The Disc Lock function is in use.
The disc is upside down.
The CD is dirty or scratched.
• You are using a protected MD.
• The MD is write protected.
Small tabs on the back of the cassette
are removed.
Solution
Put an MD.
Stop recording.
Use a recordable MD.
Turn off the unit, then turn on it again.
You cannot make a digital recording
from a duplicated CD-R/RW onto an
MD. If you try to do so, the unit will
automatically convert the digital signals
to analog signals and record them at x1
speed (normal speed).
Action
Insert the plug into the socket.
Unplug the AC power cord then plug it
back in.
• Check all connections and make
corrections. (See pages 6 to 8.)
• Unplug the headphones from the
PHONES jack.
• Remove the obstruction.
• Replace the batteries. (See page 8.)
• Signals cannot reach the remote
sensor. Move closer to the unit.
• Reconnect the antenna correctly and
securely.
• Change the position and direction of
the AM loop antenna.
• Extend FM antenna and orient to the
best reception position.
• Plug in the AC power cord.
• Cancel the Disc Lock function. (See
page 19.)
Put the disc in with the label side up.
Clean or replace the CD. (See page 59.)
• Change it with a recordable MD.
• Unprotect the MD. (See page 28.)
Cover the holes with adhesive tape.
