When you first start the walkie talkie, it is ready to use
at the default channel / subtone combination of 1
and 0. If you press the orange PTT (Push-To-Talk) but-
ton on the right edge of the tw700, it will start trans-
mitting on this channel. If you don't press the PTT
button, it is continuously listening at this frequency
and waiting to receive a transmission.
Tap on the large rectangular button to re-tune to the
channel / subtone combination used by the other per-
son. The following options are available:
Adjust
Manually: Use this option if you already know
the channel / subtone combination you want to use.
Tap + or - to adjust the setting and tap Done when you
are finished, or tap Revert if you change your mind.
Scan: With this option, the other person should press
the PTT button on his or her walkie talkie and speak
continuously. Then you should tap Start Scanning. The
tw700 first scans for the right channel with CTCSS
switched off. When the right channel is found, you
should hear the other person but you may hear stran-
gers as well on the same frequency. Tap Channel OK
to confirm the channel. The tw700 will then try out all
of the 38 subtones (CTCSS codes) in turn to find the
correct one. When you hear the other person clearly,
tap Stop and then tap Select to save your settings and
return to the main screen. Alternatively, tap Scan
takwak tw700 version 1.30
Again to try again or Revert to return to the main
screen with the previous settings.

Setting the PMR volume

To set the PMR volume, press the PTT button very brief-
ly in Map View and then press Volume - or Volume +.
The PMR volume slider is shown while you do this. You
can also adjust the volume while listening to someone
else speaking on the walkie talkie and/or in the Walkie
Talkie Settings or Group Settings.

Walkie Talkie - Menu Items

Press Menu for the following options:
Connect: This is the same as pressing the large rectan-
gular Connect button in the main screen
Help: Open the online help of the walkie talkie.
Exit: Exit the application
Ring: Transmit a 2-second tone signal via the walkie
talkie to draw the attention of other group members.
Can be used to signal that you want to speak a mes-
sage.
Settings: Configure the following settings:
PMR
volume: Press Volume - or Volume + to adjust
the PMR volume. The PMR volume slider is shown
while you do this. You can adjust the volume while lis-
tening to someone else speaking on the walkie talkie.
