instead of an SMS.
To compose a new message, choose Menu » Compose
or tap New Message on the starting screen and enter
a mobile phone number in the To field. As you enter
the number, matching contacts are shown from your
contacts list. Touch one of the suggestions or carry on
entering the phone number. You can also enter the
name. The messaging app will then look for matching
recipients with a mobile phone number.
If you exchange more than one message with the same
recipient, it is shown in the messaging app as a so-
called thread (group of messages).
When you receive a message, a notification sound is
played and a notification is shown in the device's sta-
tus bar. Tap the notification to read the message. Then
press Menu to get a range of options for responding to
the message, such as reply, forward and copy message
text.
In the first screen of Messaging, press Menu » Settings
to configure settings for the app, including the notifi-
cation ring tone.
Another way to write a new SMS or MMS is to start
with the contacts app and tap the Messaging button
alongside the mobile phone number. This opens the

thumbnail icon and then tap the Messaging icon.

Music

The Music app is used to play music through the built-
in speaker or a headset. It is compatible with a wide
range of music file formats for example MP3, MIDI and
WAV. It is not compatible with purchased music file
formats which are copy protected with a DRM signa-
ture (digital rights management).

Search

The Search app lets you search for items in the inter-
net, just like going to the Google™ main page using a
browser. It also allows you to limit the extent of your
search. Tap the magnifying glass icon to the left of the
search field to limit your search to only web, only apps
or only contacts.

Sound Recorder

The Sound Recorder is used to make a voice recording
or audio memo. The recording is stored on the root di-
rectory of the SDcard as a sound file in 3gp format and
can also be played back on a PC with suitable playback
software such as VLC Media Player.
