Hardware Image Processing for Your Scanner

Unless otherwise stated, all options listed in this section are also available in software image processing through
Visioneer Acuity. The scanner cannot go back and forth between hardware and software image processing. While
scanning, the scanner will use the hardware image processing option as its first priority, and change to software
image processing if a setting in the scanner interface is incompatible with the hardware option, or if one of the
selected options is only available for software image processing. When using software image processing, the scan
speed will slow down as the image processing functions are switched over to the computer.
The scan progress window will indicate when hardware image processing is being used.
For example, the sections in the following pages indicate at which point the resolution and/or page size limits some
of the hardware processing options from being available. If you select a resolution and/or page size that exceeds
those listed in the tables, image processing for those options will be performed in software. If Visioneer Acuity is not
enabled for use, functions that cannot be used with the current resolution and/or page size will automatically be
disabled. These limitations are described in detail below.
These hardware options are available when the resolution and page length are within the range specified in
the table

Note: if the selected page length exceeds the sizes listed in this table, software image processing through Visioneer
Acuity (when enabled) will automatically be used. If Visioneer Acuity is not installed, these options will be disabled
until a lower resolution and/or page size is specified.
