If you already have a scanner connected to your computer, you need to remove its driver programs first before beginning the installation of your Xerox DocuMate 510 scanner. Please see “Uninstalling Your Scanner” on page 47 for basic instructions, or see the User’s Guide that you received with your other scanner for specific instructions.
The locking tab protects the scanner’s scan head by holding it securely in position. Lock the scanner when transporting it from one location to another, but always remember to unlock it before scanning. The scanner will not scan when locked. DocuMate 510 Scanner Installation Guide...

After extended use, the roller may wear out and may need to be replaced. It is a user-replaceable part and can be reordered. See “Xerox DocuMate 510 Parts List” on page 50 for the part number. Frequent paper jams are a symptom of a worn roller assembly. A worn roller can cause documents to feed in skewed at an angle, or multiple pages to feed at the same time.
