Solutions
Be sure oven door is closed when broiling.
Reposition oven rack lower to provide proper clearance between
the food & the upper burner.
Remove excess fat from meat. Remove fatty edges.
Regular cleaning is needed when broiling frequently.
Always place insert on the broil pan with ribs up and slot holes
downward. This will allow grease to drip into pan.
Wipe up any excessive spillovers before starting the oven. Should
an oven fire occur, close the oven door and turn the oven OFF. If
the fire continues, use a fire extinguisher. DO NOT put water or
flour on the fire! Flour may be explosive.
Push in and turn the surface control knob to the lite position until
burner ignites; then turn knob out of the lite position and adjust
to desired flame size.
Check that all surface burner caps are level and seated correctly
on surface burner heads. See "Cleaning the cooktop and surface
burners" in the Care & Cleaning section.
With all surface burners turned OFF, use a small-gauge wire or
needle to clean burner head slots and ignition ports. See
"Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners" in the Care &
Cleaning section for additional cleaning instructions.
If needed, surface burners may be lit manually. See section on
Setting Surface Controls.
Plug power cord into the power outlet.
Check that all surface burner caps are level and seated correctly
on surface burner heads. See "Cleaning the cooktop and surface
burners" in the Care & Cleaning section.
Lightly fan the flame & allow burner to operate until flame is full.
Dry the surface burners thoroughly following the instructions
under "Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners" provided in the
Care & Cleaning section.
With all surface burners turned OFF, use a small-gauge wire or
needle clean to burner head slots and ignition ports. See
"Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners" in the Care &
Cleaning section for additional cleaning instructions.
Adjust surface control knob to a lower flame setting.
Burner caps are not seated properly. Check that all surface burner
caps are level and seated correctly on surface burner heads. See
"Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners" in the Care &
Cleaning section.
Allow burner to operate a few minutes until flame turns blue.
A slightly orange flame may be unavoidable from salt content in air.
