RIDING TIPS

STARTING THE ENGINE

Before attempting to start the
engine, make sure:
1. The transmission is in neutral.
2. The engine stop switch is in
the "" position.
NOTE: This motorcycle has inter-
lock switches for the ignition cir-
cuit and the starter circuit. The
engine can only be started if:
The transmission is in neutral
and the clutch is disengaged,
or
The transmission is in gear,
the side stand is fully up, and
the clutch is disengaged.
3. Close the throttle completely
and push the electric starter
button.
NOTE: Open the throttle 1/8 and
push the electric starter button
when the engine is hard to start.
WARNING
Running the engine indoors or
in a garage can be hazardous.
Exhaust gas contains carbon
monoxide, a gas that is color-
less and odorless and can
cause death or severe injury.
Only run the engine outdoors
where there is fresh air.
CAUTION
Running the engine too long
without riding may cause the
engine to overheat. Overheat-
ing can result in damage to
internal engine components
and discoloration of exhaust
pipes.
Shut the engine off if you can-
not begin your ride promptly.
