Depending on the CIFS Message settings and Microsoft Windows Client settings, you might
receive messages on your CIFS client about the shutdown. These messages are shown in
Figure 16-3 on page 219.

16.2.3 Rebooting the system

The System Storage N series systems can be rebooted from the command line or from the
NSM interface.
Rebooting from the CLI halts the N series and then restarts it, as shown in Example 16-10.

Network File System (NFS) clients can maintain use of a file over a halt or reboot because
NFS is a stateless protocol. CIFS, FCP, and iSCSI clients behave differently. Therefore, use
the -t option to allow users time before the shutdown to save their work.
Depending on the shutdown message settings, CIFS clients might receive messages, such
as those that are shown in Figure 16-3 on page 219.
