The gap between the face of the sensor and the head of the mounting bolt on the brake disc should be
2~4mm (1/16"~3/16"). If this is incorrect, bend the bracket to get the gap right. Use a drill bit between the
magnet and the sensor to gauge this gap.
Use a rubber mallet or a block of wood to hit the back of the tyre to push the wheel forward and seat the
chain adjusters fully. We recommend using a stringline to realign the wheel after the sensor is installed.
Tighten the axle nut to 93 N.m (69 lb.ft). (Refer to your owners' manual for correct torque values for your
motorcycle).
Re-tighten the adjuster bolts lightly.
Note: - The inclusion of the sensor bracket will move the wheel 1mm (0.040") to the left side of the bike
from its original position. This can be corrected by realigning the rear wheel using the chain
adjusters. If the owner is not comfortable with this the OUTSIDE face of the brake caliper mount
bracket can be machined to reduce the width by 2mm (0.080"). This will restore the wheel to its
original position.
Installing the sensor magnets.
The magnets are placed in the head of two of the rear brake disc mounting bolts, equally spaced around the
disc and with the same pole facing out. It doesn't matter which pole is out, but they must both be the same
way around.
Attach the magnets to each other and place one of the
magnets in the socket head of one of the rear disc
mounting bolts, using the second magnet to hold the first.
After the first magnet is in the bolt head slide the second
magnet off the first. Place the second magnet in the
diametrically opposite bolt head with the face that was
attracted to the first magnet facing into the bolt socket. In
other words, do not turn the magnet around after sliding it
off the face of the first magnet.
The magnets should now be equally spaced around the
disc and have the same pole facing out.
If you accidentally put a magnet in the wrong hole or the wrong way around, the flat face of a screwdriver
tip or the flat face of a pair of pliers can be used to pull the magnet out.
Connecting the sensor wires.
Route the sensor wire to the right side of the bike with the
rear brake switch wire until it passes the brake hose on the
rear brake master cylinder. Run the sensor wire with the
rear brake hose. You can either cable tie the wire to the
brake hose, or place the wire in the hose guides as shown
in the photo.
