5.0 Assembly

The Jøtul FS 11 without a front vent (cat. no. 300362) comprises
the following parts, see fig. 1A.

The Jøtul FS 11 with front vent and side grates can also be
extended to form a high version.

5.1 Preparation of the insert
Make sure that the fireplace insert is free of damage before
commencing with the installation.
The product is heavy! Make sure you have assistance when
erecting and installing the fireplace.
Attaching the legs (fig. 2)
1. After unpacking the insert, loosen the handle which is
attached to the top. Take out the box with its contents, baffle
plate together with the heatshields. Close the door.
2. Place the cardboard packaging on the floor and lay the
fireplace carefully down on its back.
3. Assemble the 3 legs (A) with the aid of flush screws M6 x 25
mm and washers.

4. Attach the adjustable joints (B) to the legs. (The screws and
washers are included in the plastic bag). NB! The joining
sections for the legs are to be pulled out such that they are
388 mm in length.
5. Assemble the heat shield under the base of the fire with
the aid of 1 collar head screws which is fastened under the
base plate.
6. Put the baffle plate in place in the grooves at the top of the
burn plates.
7. The final adjustments should only be made after the insert
has had a trial assembly. Always place the leg floor plate under
the screw heads, both to protect the surface and to prevent
the insert from slipping out of position.
8. The final adjustment is done with the aid of M10x45mm
screws which are attached to the joints (C).
5.2 Assembly of the surround-
It is recommended that prior to permanently attaching the insert
to the chimney the surround is mounted dry in order to be able
to make any adjustments.
Remember! Use the enclosed (acrylic) glue for all joints.

Lay the base plate (part 1) in position. Using a spirit level correct
any crookedness with glue, mortar or small steel washers. It is
imperative that the base plate is stable and level.

Lift the insert into position. The adjusting screws should align
with the cut-outs.

Mount the base (part 2) and side panels (parts 3 and 4) in the
grooves in the base plate. Make sure that the insert is centred in
relation to the side panels and the base.
N.B. Remember to use glue between all parts.

Adjust the bench plate (part 17). There should be approximately
2-3 mm between the plate and the insert. If necessary, use the
adjusting screws on the insert legs.
Slide the back wall (part 5) down between the side panels.
There should be approximately 1120 mm between the floor and
the centre of the rear flue outlet for fireplaces located in a corner
or in front of a wall, but it is important that the flue pipes are test
mounted prior to making a hole in the chimney.
N.B. Remember that there shall be a minimum incline of 2%
towards the chimney.
Mark where the hole in the chimney is to be located and mount
the flue insert and flue pipe according to regulations.

If the fireplace is to be free-standing, the cowling (part 6) must be
mounted prior to the upper back-plate (part 8). When mounting
against a firewall the upper back-plate may be omitted (or the
upper back-plate must be mounted first).
N.B. Remember to remove the cut-out for the flue pipe when the
fireplace has a rear flue outlet.
