Using the Telephone

You cannot dial.
Cause 1
The telephone line may not be connected properly.
Remedy
Make sure that all line connections are secure.
Cause 2
The machine may not be set for the type of telephone line in use (pulse/tone).
Remedy
Make sure the machine is set for the correct telephone line type. (See "Checking and
Setting the Telephone Line Type," on p. 1-10.)
Cause 3
The LOCK PHONE function may be set to <ON>.
Remedy
Make sure that the LOCK PHONE function is set to <OFF>. (See "System Settings," on
p. 6-12.)
The telephone disconnects while you are talking.
Cause
The telephone line may not be connected securely.
Remedy
Check that the modular cords are connected securely to the jacks on the machine, the
telephone jack on your wall, and the connecting jack on your telephone.
