DGS-6600 Layer 3 Chassis Ethernet Managed Switch Hardware Installation Guide

First Time Connecting to the Switch

The Switch supports user-based security that provides prevention of unauthorized access to the Switch or
change of settings. This section explains how to log onto the Switch via an out-if-band console connection or an
out-of-band Management port connection.
Upon initial connection to the Switch, the login screen appears (see Figure 4-2).

There is no initial login procedure until at least one user is created through the CLI Command Interface. The
Switch will automatically login to the User Exec level. To gain access to enter the configuration mode use the
following command:
DGS-6600:2>enable
DGS-6600:15#configure terminal
DGS-6600:15(config)#
The enable command enters the user into the Privileged EXEC mode (administration rights) and the configure
terminal enters the user into the Global configuration mode.
NOTE: The initial login automatically gets Administrator level (Privileged EXEC) privileges
until a user is created if the user does not have Privileged EXEC rights then an Enable pass-
word should be set). It is recommended that at least one Admin-level user account should
be created for the Switch.
