DGS-6600 Series Switch Monitoring Function

Each board installed in the DGS-6600 Series Switch features a System LED, which can be used to monitor the
status of each board while the Switch is running. If the System LED on a line card is red, a fault has occurred on
the line card and some diagnostics will need to be carried out to establish the route cause.
If the LED on the DGS-6600-FAN/FGS-6600-FAN-II fan tray is red, one or more of the fans on the tray has failed.
The LED on the front of the DGS-6600-PWR power module will be off if it has failed and should be replaced as
soon as possible.
The user can execute various CLI commands to monitor the status of the Switch, including the following:
• Whether a switch slot has a line card inserted in it or module port has a module installed in it.
• A port's status and configuration information.
• The operating status of the power supplies and fan tray.
• The Switch's temperature.
Please see the DGS-6604 Command Line Interface Guide and the Configuration Guide for more information on
the commands that are used for monitoring the DGS-6604.

Maintaining the DGS-6600 Modules

If a Module in the DGS-6600 fails due to a fault, replace the board using the procedure outlined in Installing Line
Cards in the DGS-6600 Series Switch on page 48.

Maintaining the Ventilation System

• The fan in the Switch sends regular status updates to inform the Switch about its health. If the fan fails,
an alarm will be raised to inform the user.
• If a fan needs to be replaced, carry out the following:
1.
Loosen the fastening screws on the fan tray.
2.
Replace the fan that has failed with a working fan.
3.
Tighten the fastening screws on the fan tray.
NOTE: When replacing a faulty fan, it is recommended to clean the air filter of the
DGS-6600.
