Configure the terminal emulation software to use the following settings:
Select the appropriate serial port (For example,
COM 1).
Set the Bits per second (data rate) to 115200
baud.
Set the data format to 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and
no parity.
Set the flow control to none.
Under Properties > Settings, select VT100 as the
Emulation mode.
Select Terminal keys for Function, Arrow and Ctrl
keys. Make sure that Terminal keys (not
Windows keys) are selected.
NOTE: When using HyperTerminal with the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, ensure
that the Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or later is installed. This service pack allows the
use of arrow keys in HyperTerminal's VT100 emulation.
NOTE: Access to the console port can be made at any time while the Switch is on. There is no
need to turn the Switch off when plugging the console cable into the console port.

Connecting to the Switch for the First Time

After successfully connecting to the Switch's console port and the Switch was turned on, the boot-up procedure will be
displayed, as shown below.
