Controls, Indicators and operation FRONT PANEL EXT MIC/EAR PTT/VOX GAIN M-899 VOX CHANNEL α OFF/VOL AS/SQL REMOTE PTT RF GAIN EXT / MIC EAR Jack Connect here external microphones and external earsets. Refer to the sections “TRANSMITTING MODE” at page 8 and “RECEIVING MODE”... - Page 6 Controls, Indicators and operation LCD Display Large size LCD display with blue color backlight function for best readability in darkness. It indicates the operating channel number, the full frequency readout, the operating mode, all the programmed settings and all the enabled functions.

EMG Icon The EMG icon (I) is lighted when one of the pre-programmed Emergency Channels has been selected. VOX Icon The VOX Icon (L) is lighted when the VOX (handsfree use) function is enabled.

Refer to the sections INSTALLATION OF THE ANTENNA. 13.2VDC POWER CORD 13.2VDC power cord input. IMPORTANT ! Do never attempt to open the cabinet of the transceiver.
- Page 9 Controls, Indicators and operation MICROPHONE WITH 4-PIN CONNECTOR PTT (Push-to-Talk) Key Transmitter key. Press the PTT key (16) to transmit and release it to return to the receive mode. MICROPHONE Plug 4-pin microphone connector with locking ring. Connect it to the microphone connector (12) on the front panel of the radio.
- Page 10 Controls, Indicators and operation TRANSMITTING MODES OPERATION IN PTT MODE WITH STANDARD MICROPHONE (supplied) Connect the 4-pin standard microphone to the microphone connector (12). Select the PTT operating mode by turning the PTT/VOX GAIN control (5) fully counterclockwise until a click is heard (PTT mode position). Press and hold the PTT button (16) to transmit and speak into microphone.
- Page 11 Controls, Indicators and operation RECEIVING MODE LISTENING TROUGH MAIN SPEAKER (supplied) If you want to listen to the communications through the main speaker, the jack of the supplied earset (ESM-555) must be disconnected from the right side hole (1B). The standard 4-pin supplied microphone may be either connected or disconnected from the radio.

Installation Installation Before installing the main unit in the vehicle, check and select the most convenient location, in order that the radio will be easy to reach and comfortable to operate, without disturbing or interfering with the vehicle drive. Use the supplied bracket and hardware to install the radio. -

- Page 24 Descrizione dei comandi e funzionamento MODALITA' DI RICEZIONE ASCOLTO CON ALTOPARLANTE INTERNO (in dotazione) Se si desidera ascoltare le comunicazioni tramite l' altoparlante interno della radio, è necessario che il jack dell' auricolare in dotazione (ESM-555) sia disinserito dalla presa (1B). Il microfono tradizionale in dotazione può essere, indifferentemente collegato o scollegato dalla radio.
