Locating the closest box

A box filled with a light shade may appear to be smaller than a
same size box filled with a darker shade. The barely noticeable
difference is usually apparent only when boxes with different
light shading lie immediately adjacent to each other, as in some
bar graphs or histograms. If this is considered a problem, it may
be corrected as follows:
• If the top of a box is affected, move the box up or down by
one dot (1/300 inch).
• If the bottom is affected, reduce or extend the height of the
box by one dot (1/300 inch).
• If the left side of the box is affected, move the box left or
right by one dot (1/300 inch).
• If the right side is affected, reduce or extend the width of
the box by one dot (1/300 inch).
When text is entered for placement within a box, the system
attempts to determine whether the given text exceeds the largest
font size that can fit within the boundaries of the box. If FDL
computations indicate that the entered text may not fit within the
box, the following error message is displayed:
TEXT WILL NOT FIT IN THE BOX
The system checks both the horizontal and vertical directions of
the box. If an error is detected in either or both directions, an
attempt is made to indicate an approximate value for the largest
font.
When you specify text to be placed in a box, the system locates
the closest box within a ten-dot square of the specified point.
Example If text is to be placed in a box located two grid units by two grid
units from the origin of the form, the system selects the box
closest to this point and within ten dots square. The upper left
corner of this box becomes the relative origin for subsequent
text placement.
