Print Head Maintenance
If print quality has not improved after cleaning (using a thermal cleaning card, or if one is not
available, foam or cotton tipped swabs or a clean lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl
alcohol may be used. Follow the steps below to clean the print head.
1. Remove any installed media.
2. Turn the printer power OFF.
3. Release print assembly latches and lift to access the inside of the printer.
4. With a foam or cotton tipped swab or soft, lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl
alcohol, clean the thermal elements by gently rubbing the swab down the length of
the print head dot row. Allow for the alcohol to evaporate, then repeat if necessary
(See Figure 10-4).
5. Reinstall media and run labels to check print quality.
6. If poor print quality persists, print head or other parts may be damaged.
CAUTION: Isopropyl Alcohol should be used to clean the drive
roller. The use of other cleaning solvents or materials is not
recommended and may degrade the performance of the drive
roller.
