Running Connectivity Tests
Both the hub and cabling can be tested by running an end-to-end communica-
tions test—a test that sends known data from one network device to another
through the hub—such that you can verify that the data was correctly trans-
mitted between the devices. Through both the ASCII Console Interface and
the Browser Interface, you can run the following hub-to-node connectivity
tests:
Link Test. A test of the link layer (MAC Address) connection between a local
device and a designated remote device.
Ping Test. A test of the network layer (IP Address) path between the managed
device and another device on an IP network that responds to IP packets.
