computer modem on the same line, Faxing will not operate correctly. 40 Receiving a fax Receive Mode settings Ring Delay The ring delay sets the number of
times the machine rings before it answers in Fax Only and Fax/Tel modes. If you have external or extension phones on the same line as the machine or
subscribe to the Distinctive Ring 1 service, keep the Ring Delay setting of 6. (See Operation from extension telephones on page 56 and Fax Detect on page
42.) 1 6 F/T Ring Time When somebody calls your machine, you and your caller will hear the normal telephone ring sound. The number of rings is set by the
ring delay setting. If the call is a fax, then your machine will receive it; however, if it is a voice call the machine will sound the F/T ring (a fast double-ring)
ringing and fax-receiving tones while sending a fax.
