'MAINTENANCE 8, ADJUSTMENTS
Replace
-
1. Move the blade control OFF.
2.
Remove the belt cover.
3. Loosen the four belt-guide bolts on the power unit. (These
are accessible from the top of the unit.)
4. Loosen the pivot bolts
on the idler pulley and
the tensioner pulley and
move the belt guides
away from the pulleys.
5. Loosen the two guide
pins at the center
spindle and remove the
belt. Remove the belt
from the other pulleys.
6. Before installing a new
belt, move the idler
pulley to the position
shown (outer hole).
7. Place the belt in position
over the pulleys and
move the blade control
ON.
8. Adjust the idler and
tensioner pulley guides
to the positions shown, a
the belt.

9. Tighten the two guide pins at the center spindle.
16. Adjust the engine pulley guides '/s - 3/is inch (3 - 5 mm) from
the belt.
11. Cycle the blade control on and off a few times
and
recheck
the positions of the belt guides. Check the tightness of all
bolts.
12.
Move the blade control ON.
13.
Measure the length of the tensioner spring.
