Chapter 14—Troubleshooting

14.5 No Printing

96
Description:
Printing is started but nothing is printed.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Incorrectly loaded supplies.
- Check if direct thermal media is loaded with the heat-sensitive side
facing down. If so, reload the media.
- Check if the ink-coated side of the thermal transfer ribbon faces the
media. If not, reload the ribbon.
• Wrong printer driver.
- Check that the correct printer driver is specifi ed in the host computer.
• Wrong Media Type, Paper Type, and Option setup.
- Check that the printer is set for correct media type, paper type, and
print method, either using the Setup mode or program commands
depending on whether the printer has a display or not (see User's
Guide).
• Bad connection between printhead and main board.
- Check that the printhead is properly inserted into the print mecha-
nism, see Chapter 7.7.
- Check that the cables running from the print mechanism to the main
board are not visibly damaged and that they are properly connected to
the main board, see Chapter 12.3.
- Try installing a replacement printhead (must have the same density!).
• Faulty main board
- Use an oscilloscope to examine the printhead signals on the main
board while trying to print for example a test label (see Chapter 12.5
"Test Points").
• Label taken sensor active and label not removed.
- Check if the label taken sensor is folded out and enabled and if there
is a label left in the outfeed slot or the ambient light disturbs the label
taken sensor.
