For information about installing and replacing hard disk drives, see "Installing a
hot-swap hard disk drive" on page 44 and "Replacing a hot-swap hard disk drive"
on page 45. For more information about the LEDs, see "Front view" on page 29.

The following sections show the LEDs, controls, and connectors on the components
at the rear of the storage subsystem.

Indication
Amber
When this LED is lit, it indicates that the
storage subsystem has a fault, such as in
a power-supply-with-fan unit or hard disk
drive. When this LED is flashing, it
indicates that an illegal hardware
configuration is detected.
Note: If the fault LED is lit continuously
(not flashing), there is a problem with the
storage subsystem. Use the ServeRAID
Manager program to diagnose and repair
the problem. For more information, see
the Problem Determination Guide.
Green
Each hard disk drive has an activity LED.
When this LED is flashing, it indicates
that the drive is in use.
Amber
Each hard disk drive has a status LED.
When this LED is lit, it indicates that the
drive has failed. When this LED is
flashing slowly (one flash per second), it
indicates that the drive is being rebuilt.
When the LED is flashing rapidly (three
flashes per second), it indicates that the
RAID controller is identifying the drive.
