Chapter 4. Storage subsystem controls, LEDs, and power

This chapter describes the controls and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and how to
turn the storage subsystem on and off.
See the DS300 and DS400 Problem Determination Guides for LED

Front view

The following illustration shows the LEDs on the front of the DS300 and DS400
storage subsystems.

Power on
Locator
Hard disk drive activity LED
Hard disk drive status LED
Color
Indication
Green
When this LED is lit, it indicates that the
storage subsystem is turned on. When
this LED is off, it indicates that dc power
is not present, or the power supply or the
LED itself has failed. A power LED is also
on the power supply.
Note: To remove all electrical power from
the storage subsystem, you must
disconnect the power cord from the
electrical outlet.
Blue
When this LED is lit, it has been remotely
lit by the ServeRAID Manager program
(running on the system that is the
management station for the storage
subsystem), to aid in visually locating the
storage subsystem.
