How to prevent
damage
14
q Ensure that the hotplates are not switched on (e.g.
by children playing) while the lid is closed or if
anything else is placed on the hob.
q Open the lid when you are using the oven. The
steam which accumulated in the oven escapes
through the steam outlet on the hob.
q Do not cover the hob with foil as this could result in
damage.
q Keep the hotplates dry, since they are damaged by
salty water or wet pan bases.
q Remove spills immediately. Using high sided pans
for food which contains a lot of liquid prevents the
food from boiling over.
q Ensure that the hotplates are not used without
pans. You should also avoid using pans with
uneven bases, since this prevents the hotplates
from giving off enough heat, which can cause
them to glow red.
q The area between the hotplates can also heat up if
the hotplates are switched on for a long period of
time. This is a normal technical process.
