Set Time/Date
The Set Time right click menu item is a special advanced feature designed to allow
the user to manually set the time and date for the clock for use in the absence of an
NTP time server.
[Important Note: DO NOT use this method for network clocks that will have access to
an NTP time server. This clock will self adjust to the UTC time reference provided by
the NTP time server, plus any Time Zone and DST offset settings that have been
configured. To configure the time displayed on the face of the clock , refer to the
previous sections for configuring the IP address, NTP time server(s), Time Zone, and
DST settings.]
The time can either be set to the time of the PC running WinDiscovery or a manual
time and date may be entered. The function may be most useful for lab situations as
the clocks keep time via their internal precision oscillator when NTP is not present. .
[Note: When the network clock has access to NTP servers, information obtained via
NTP will overwrite any manually established time/date.]
Practical use of this feature requires the clock to be removed from the network, or for
NTP server configuration to be left undefined.
[Note: for the purpose of refreshing its internal clock, the network clock assumes the
time entered is UTC. Any configured time zone/daylight time settings will then be
applied to this time for display purposes.]
