System Protection
The system incorporates several protection schemes to
prevent component/system failure including: Short Circuit,
Thermal Overload and Limiters.
Short Circuit Protection
Each speaker output connector can withstand a continuous
shorted condition without permanent failure. However it is
not advised to short the system for any reason.
Note:
The amplifier/s will heat during a prolonged short circuit
state and eventually activate the fan.
Thermal Overload Protection
The thermal overload protection has two states where the
rear mounted fan operates under normal circumstances
and the amplifiers shut down individually under extreme
conditions.
During normal operation the fan provides more than
adequate cooling for prolonged high output levels. The
fan activates if the internal temperature rises above a
predetermined point and typically operates for several
minutes cooling the system well below the trip point to
prevent rapid on/off cycling.
Under extreme conditions including high ambient
temperatures or inadequate ventilation, the amplifier/s can
shutdown briefly until the internal temperature decreases.
If shutdown occurs check for proper ventilation especially
at the rear mounted fan and the top cover holes.
Note:
The amplifiers have individual thermal shutdown con-
trols therefore only one amp may shut down at a given time.
Limiters
The system incorporates internal limiters to protect the
amplifier and speaker from signal overloads on high peaks
and long term high outputs. The operation is transparent to
the user and is not adjustable.
