Hooking Up the System
1.
AC Power
- Connect the included power cord into the
recessed IEC AC input socket. Do not plug the amplifier
into a live electrical socket until all connections are
made and the entire system is ready to play.
2.
Speaker Outputs
- There are two sets of heavy duty
binding posts clearly marked with "+" and "-" labels..
Each subwoofer module has two spring-loaded
terminals color coded in red for "+" and black for "-".
The positive (+) amplifier output terminals should be
connected to the red (+) terminals on the subwoofer
modules. The negative (-) amplifier terminals should
be connected to the black (-) terminals on the
subwoofer modules.
One BGX-S12B or two BGX-S6B subwoofer modules
may be connected to each amplifier speaker output.
BG recommends high quality 12-16 AWG OFC (oxygen-
free copper) speaker wire for all speaker connections.
We do not recommend specialty connectors which
are not compatible with push terminals on the
subwoofer modules or the binding posts on the
amplifier.
Audio Inputs
3.
- Connect the amplifier to the subwoofer
output of your surround sound processor using high
quality audio interconnects, either an XLR connector to
the Balanced Input or an RCA connector to the
Unbalanced Input.
For systems with multiple BGX-A2 amplifiers, simply
connect an RCA interconnect from the Line Out of

the first amp (the one connected to the surround
sound processor) to the Unbalanced Input on the
second amp. Continue this process to connect any
additional BGX-A2 amplifiers to the system.
Note:
Although the BGX-A2 is a two channel amplifier
and the unbalanced and line out each have two jacks,
the subwoofer signal is mono and the amps sums the
input signal to mono if you use both jacks!
RS-232
4.
- This DB9 jack receives full duplex control
signals from an automation system. Connect a serial
cable with a male DB9 connector from a serial
control port on the automation control system (see
pages 18-21 for further details on RS-232 control
specification for the BGX-A2).
[Pinouts: Pin 2 = TX, Pin 3 = RX, Pin 5 = Ground(-)].
IR Input
5.
- Connect a 3.5 mm mono mini plug standard
cable to the IR Direct Input from an IR output on your
surround processor or your IR control system.
[Pinouts: Tip = Hot (+), Sleeve = Ground (-)].
5.
+12V Trigger Input
from this Phoenix type connector to either a +12V
trigger output on your surround processor or
control system, or to a 12VDC power supply plugged
into a switched AC outlet, observing correct polarity.
This trigger will respond to signals with a range of
6-15V .
