Installing the USB Driver for CP1E

The USB driver for CP1E must be installed on the computer running the CX-Programmer for CP1E in
order to connect the CP1E to the computer via USB. The USB driver for CP1E is automatically stored in
the following directory in the personal computer when the CX-Programmer for CP1E is installed:
C:\Program Files\OMRON\CX-Server\USB\w2k\inf
When the personal computer is connected to the CP1E by USB cable, the personal computer automat-
ically recognizes the device and the USB driver installation is started.
Installing on Windows XP or Vista
Connect the CP1E to a computer running Windows XP or Vista. The USB driver for CP1E will need to
be installed on the computer the first time it is connected. There is no need to reinstall the driver again
because the USB will be automatically recognized thereafter.
This section describes how to install the CP1E driver on Windows XP or Vista the first time. Complete
the installation with the following procedure.
The computer is assumed to have the CX-Programmer for CP1E already installed.

Start Windows XP or Vista and log on as a user with Administrator privileges to be able to
change the system settings.

Connect the computer's USB port (1) and the CP1E CPU Unit's peripheral USB port (3) with a
USB cable (2).
New Hardware was detected will be displayed when the computer detects the connection
with the CP1E and the hardware installation wizard will be displayed.

Select the No, do not connect this
time Option in the New Hardware
Detection Wizard Dialog Box and click
the Next Button. The New Hardware
Detection Wizard Dialog Box may not
be displayed depending on the com-
puter's settings. If it is not displayed,
go to step 4.
