Installation

CAUTION The XR Series RFID readers must be professionally installed.

Mounting Tips

Consider the following before selecting a location for the XR Series reader:
•
Mount the reader indoors, in operating range and out of direct sunlight, high moisture, and/or extreme
temperatures.
•
Mount the reader in an area free from electromagnetic interference. Sources of interference include
generators, pumps, converters, non-interruptible power supplies, AC switching relays, light dimmers, and
computer CRT terminals.
•
Mount the reader within 15 feet of the antennas.
•
Ensure the power cord can reach the power source outlet.
•
Mount the reader onto a permanent fixture, such as a wall or a shelf, where it will not be disturbed, bumped,
or damaged. Allow a minimum of five inches of clearance on all sides of the reader.
! When installing the antenna ensure a minimum separation distance of 9.1 in (23 cm)

Position the reader on the wall or shelf, ensuring a minimum clearance of five inches on all sides. Orient the

reader vertically with the ports at the bottom and ensure that all connected cables hang straight down.

Reposition the reader over the mounting holes and secure using fasteners appropriate for the surface material.
