Byte Stream Interface Security
All Byte Stream Protocol communication between the XR reader and client can be secured using SSL/TLS. The
reader can be configured to support secure communication over BSP connection by enabling the Secured option
for Byte Stream in the Settings for Enabling Secure Byte Stream, Window
authentication for clients connecting to the reader can be enabled by selecting the Enable Bytestream User
Authentication option. A secure network connection needs to be established by the client to reader server BSP port
for this purpose.

Secure custom applications can also be developed to interface to the BSP port. Some options for developing the
applications include:
•
SChannel Security Package, to develop Win32 communication applications, provided as part of platform
SDK (refer MSDN documentation).
•
Third party libraries such as OpenSSL (www.openssl.org).
