Catalyst troubleshooting

Since StoreOnce Catalyst is designed to allow maximum control to the client application, any
problems should be remedied by checking job configuration on the client. In the unlikely event that
the StoreOnce Catalyst Status display as Fault, contact HP support services for further advice.
IMPORTANT:
will need to open (TCP) ports 9387 (Command protocol) and 9388 (Data protocol) to allow the
Catalyst traffic to pass to and from the HP StoreOnce Backup system.

StoreOnce Backup system configuration problems

I cannot see a newly created VTL device
When you create a new device on the HP StoreOnce Backup system, the host will not be able to
see the device until you connect to it manually using the iSCSI initiator. If you still cannot see the
device, check Device Manager to make sure it is visible from the host.
I cannot see additional slots from the backup application
When you create additional slots for an autoloader/library on the HP StoreOnce Backup system,
you may need to restart services on the backup application so that it can see the new slots.
I cannot recover the configuration file
You can only recover a configuration file to an HP StoreOnce Backup system if no devices (NAS
shares or Virtual Tape Libraries) have been created on that appliance. This option should only be
used in emergencies, when it is acceptable to restore the HP StoreOnce Backup system to its initial
configuration.

Upgrade licenses

Can I transfer the License To Use to a different HP StoreOnce Backup system?
Yes. This process is called re-hosting of licenses. The LTU is tied uniquely to the serial number of
your HP StoreOnce VSA. If you need to rehost the license on another VSA, you need to make a
request to the HP Licensing support team. You would need to provide the serial number of the new
VSA. Rehosting is an honestly-based movement of license. Rehosting of a given license can be
done up to 3 times.

Upgrades to component parts

You may receive notification of upgrades to system components, such as hard disk drives and
BIOS, from time to time, independently of upgrades to the HP StoreOnce Backup system software.
However, it is not necessary to install these upgrades because all hardware upgrades are bundled
as part of the HP StoreOnce software upgrade and are carried out automatically whenever you
upgrade the software.
